The coastal areas of Rivers State, particularly in Adoni, Opobo, Bonny, and Kula, offer significant opportunities for tourism growth. Despite the government’s pledges, little progress has been made in capitalising on these valuable resources for economic advancement.
These regions boast natural attractions like mangrove forests, sacred rivers, and beaches, along with cultural heritage sites such as historical monuments and museums. Additionally, the area is home to endangered species like sea turtles, whales, sea lions, dolphins, birds like the seagull and reptiles like saltwater crocodiles, making it an important focal point for conservation efforts and eco-tourism.

Renowned for its production of Bonny Light oil, it houses Nigeria’s largest LNG gas plant and is poised for expansion, positioning it as a significant location for industrial tourism.
