Unknown gunmen on Saturday night killed two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ibima Olunta and Mr. Goodfellow Bobmanuel, in Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Olunta, who is the chairman of PDP Ward 2, Abonnema, and Bobmanuel, who is a PDP councillorship aspirant for Ward 2, Abonnema, were killed while sitting in front of their houses in the community.
Speaking on the incident, Chairman of PDP in the state, Chief Felix Obuah, alleged that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akuku-Toru local government area of the state were behind the dastardly act.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday, Obuah condoled with the families of the deceased and members of the PDP in Abonnema, and urged them to remain calm as the party would ensure that all those behind the killings are fished out and prosecuted.
