Unknown Gunmen Butcher Granny, Mrs Odaro Omoruyi, as Grandchildren Go Into Hiding After Kidnap of Parents

Residents of Obasuyi community were thrown into mourning on July 3rd 2024 when unknown gunmen stormed the home of an elderly woman, a grand mother, one Mrs Odaro Omoruyi, at no.5 obasuyi street in Benin City and murdered her in cold-blood.

The elderly woman, according to information made available, suddenly came under attack at midnight while she was asleep in the sitting room and her 2 grandchildren were in their rooms, one Omoruyi Emmanuel Aisosa and Omoruyi Success Etinosa.

A witness who craved anonymity disclosed that at around 9pm loud screams of anguish and pains of the elderly woman under attack emanated from her house .

Our correspondent was however reliably informed that some fierce-looking men were earlier spotted in Mrs odaro Omoruyi house demanding for the whereabouts of her grandchildren to which she claimed not to be aware of.

Few moments later, according to the neighbours, the gunmen were again seen leaving the home of the elderly woman, the said Mrs Odaro Omoruyi, with heavy ammunition’s and matches as they reportedly escaped in a waiting truck

Following the arrival of some policemen and her 2 grandchildren rushed down to her home where her lifeless body was discovered to have been severely butchered and left in her pool of blood.

Her corpse was later taken away and deposited at the local mortuary by the police, it was confirmed.

Earlier on June 30th 2024, the parents of the 2 grandchildren, Mr and Mrs Omoruyi, who are known, deep Christians and preachers of the gospel, widely not acceptable in the highly dominated Muslim Community, were they reside, were reportedly kidnapped when unknown gunmen broke into their house between the hours of 2 and 3pm also in Benin City in what neighbours described as sinister plots to eliminate members of the Omoruyi family .

Further findings by our correspondent however revealed that Omoruyi Emmanuel Aisosa and Omoruyi Success Etinosa, her 2 grandchildren were said to have however managed to escape from their room on the night of the gruesome murder of their grandmother..

The gruesome murder of this elderly woman took place 3 days after the parents of the 2 grandchildren were abducted in their private residence.

Omoruyi Emmanuel Aisosa and Omoruyi Success Etinosa were however said to have reportedly fled to their grandmother’s house shortly after the kidnap of their parents, a neighbour added..

A in a private chat with one of the neighbors, one Osakpolor Ekhator, who assisted in, the two children, escaped, to unknown destination, was quoted to have said that the whereabouts of Mr.Omoruyi and his wife, the parents, the said preachers are still unknown, as the gunmen who are now, suspected religious fanatics and extremists, solely against christians, are after every members, of the family would stop at nothing in ensuring that no member of the Omoruyi family is spared in the ongoing killing spree.

That, at the moment, the two children, Omoruyi Emmanuel Aisosa and Omoruyi Success Etinosa are on the run, as they are likely to be murdered also, once they are found by the suspected religious extremist.
