Unknown Gunmen Attack Ekwulobia Police Checkpoint and Burn Down Duplex
Insecurity in the southeastern region continues to rise as unknown gunmen persist in attacking police personnel and families in the Anambra South area, particularly in Ekwulobia.
On February 14th, 2024, a major attack occurred at a police checkpoint in Ekwulobia, resulting in the tragic deaths of two police officers, two women, and one child. A police van was completely burnt, along with a duplex belonging to Chief Vincent Udoye.
This marks the fourth attack by the group in Ekwulobia within a span of six months. It is a deeply tragic incident, and there is growing concern among residents.
We hope the state and federal governments will take urgent action to address the rising insecurity in Anambra State.
The Anambra State Police PRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and described it as a bloody attack on both officers and civilians. He assured the public that efforts are underway to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
