University of Abuja Expels 28 Students Over Cultism, Exam Malpractice, and Criminal Acts

The University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has officially expelled 28 students for their involvement in a wide range of disciplinary and criminal offenses, including examination malpractice, cultism, and theft.

The decisive action was approved during the institution’s senate meeting following a thorough review of a report and recommendations submitted by the Student Disciplinary Committee (SDC).

In a statement issued on Sunday, the university’s Acting Director of Information, Habib Yakoob, confirmed the expulsions and outlined the severe infractions that led to the dismissals.

According to Yakoob, the affected students were found guilty of multiple offenses, which included issuing threats to life, physical assault, conspiracy, and burglary.

Additionally, several students were expelled for their direct involvement in cult-related activities, as well as the possession and use of hard drugs on campus.

The university maintains a zero-tolerance policy for criminal behavior and academic misconduct, and the administration has indicated that further details may emerge as the institution continues its crackdown on indiscipline.
