UNFILTERED: A Safe Space for Teenagers and Young Adults to Speak, Learn, and Grow
Conversations that shape the future are often the hardest ones to have. Too many times, the issues young people wrestle with are brushed aside at home, leaving them to figure out life’s biggest questions on their own. This is why UNFILTERED, a flagship programme of the Nkuzhi Learning Foundation, exists.
Founded in 2016 by Ijeoma Uwakwe Okoronkwo, Nkuzhi Learning Foundation has remained committed to raising the standard of education and mentorship through literacy advocacy, teacher training, leadership camps, and creating opportunities that guide young minds toward brighter futures. UNFILTERED continues that mission giving teenagers and young adults the freedom to openly discuss topics society often sweeps under the rug.
This year’s workshop is particularly special. For the first time, past mentees who once sat as participants are returning as adults to share their journeys and mentor the next generation. Their stories of growth, resilience, and the life-changing impact of the programme promise to be powerful reminders of the choices that can shape a lifetime.
In partnership with Dr. Toyin Abayomi, an Educational Psychologist and CEO of Bridge-Edge Consultancy and Legacies, the event will also explore how the mind becomes the center of every decision—good or bad. With her wealth of experience in education and mental health, Dr. Abayomi will help participants understand the long-term impact of choices and how to cultivate habits that lead to positive outcomes.
To make the experience more meaningful, there will be breakout sessions for boys and girls, giving participants the chance to ask candid questions and receive tailored guidance in a safe, supportive environment.
