Ugwuanyi, a first class governor, says former guber aspirant

A former governorship aspirant in the 2015 election in Enugu state, Chief Chidi Obetta has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for ensuring that credible and saleable candidates emerged from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 4 local government election while also describing him as a first class governor.
Obetta made this known to The Daily Times in Enugu while speaking on the forth coming local government election.
He said PDP through the governor’s wisdom has given all the 17 local government areas credible and saleable candidates for the November 4 chairmanship and councillorship election, pointing out that the constitution of the party gives credence to the procedure adopted as all the stakeholders were involved in the process.
He noted that the candidate for Nsukka Local Government Area, Chief Patrick Omeje, a businessman of repute and philanthropist has helped lots of women and youths to grow their businesses from petty trading to mega trading.
Obetta said, Omeje apart from his successes will replicate what the governor is doing in the state at Nsukka adding that Omeje will make Nsukka Local Government Area great.
He said the recent criticism that trailed the emergence of Omeje was part of politics, “In politics you cannot get 100 percent support.
But now that the primaries have been concluded and a candidate emerged, “there is going to be alignment and realignment.
You will find out that even in the United State of America people kicked against Donald Trump but today Americans will say Trump is their president and you will support him.
“Omeje is PDP candidate, Nsukka will have to support him. What happened was politics played at its best,” he said.
Obetta citing how the councilorship candidate emerged in his Ibagwa-Ani ward, disclosed that the candidate came from the area that never produced a councilor since the inception of democracy in the country.
He said, “What the governor did was to ensure that candidates emerged from areas that may not have ever produced candidates for elective positions.
The former guber aspirant said this is why Governor Ugwuanyi is receiving ovations in the state.
He said Ugwuanyi’s achievements in education, empowerment, road construction and lightning up Enugu projects are tremendous, “they are beyond expectations of Enugu residents.
“Governor Ugwuanyi has done very well; he has brought development to Enugu North, Enugu East and Enugu West senatorial zones of the state.
In Nsukka, he has given us dual carriage road from Opi to UNN gate, you can also see that the road is fitted with streetlights.
“He has light up Nsukka, light up Ezeagu, light up Oji River, light up Udi. The governor is working everywhere. He has done well in the area of road infrastructure, empowerment of traders in the markets and schools.
“The governor is taking empowerment to primary and secondary schools, he is teaching them to be self sufficient and reliant which was not the case before now.
This is why I say Governor Ugwuanyi is a first class governor, he has done well even beyond the expectation of ndi Enugu,” he said.
