Uba to sponsor National U-20 Championship
Owner of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side FC IfeanyiUba, Chief Ifeanyi Patrick Uba has promised to sponsor an annual national under -20 tournament in his name that would be competed for by emerging football talents from all the zones of the country.
Uba who is also the Anambra State FA Chairman confirmed this while being conferred with an award as Grand Patron of the United Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria UYSFON by president, Godspower Kokoriko at his country home in Nnewi, Anambra State.
The tournament would be organized by UYSFON and is aimed at spotting young talents from across the nooks and crannies of the country, with the 44-year-old Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and Gas Ltd noting that he believes it can go a long way in touching the lives of youths in the country.
“I’ll take the under-20 cup competition, I promise to support your needs for that competition and I’m going to direct our consultant of football, Chief Fanny Amun (MON) to work with you because I believe it’s something that would add value to the youths of Nigeria,” he said.
The championship will be staged in the month of August in Anambra State with the teams from each zone accommodated by the organizers.
The United Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria is an affiliate body of the Nigeria Football Federation with an aim to promote grassroots football development across the country.
