The Flying Eagles will be without several of their top stars as well some of the newly discovered players at the U20 WAFU Cup in Togo because of the rules of the tournament.

Among the rules for the sub-regional competition is that the players must not be younger than 17 this year.

“Some of the players from the U17 can therefore not be part of the squad to Lome,” an official said.
Meanwhile, defensive midfielder Jamilu Mohammed, who was part of the team who qualified the country for next year’s U20 AFCON in Niger, has been ruled out of the WAFU Cup no thanks to a long-term hamstring injury.
