TUC Disowns Osun Chapter Chair
The National Secretariat of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), has dissociated itself from the latest acts of gross indiscipline perpetrated by Mr. Francis Oladele Adetunji, when he mobilised thugs on Tuesday, April 14th, 2015, to help enforce an illegal strike action called by himself against the Government of the State of Osun.
In a statement signed by the President and Secretary General of TUC, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama and Comrade Musa Lawal respectively, Adetunji was TUC chairman in the State of Osun until 6th of March, 2014, when a new executive committee under the chairmanship of Comrade Akinyemi Olatunji was elected. Incidentally, this was after Adetunji had unlawfully extended his tenure in office for two extra years after the three years allowed by the Constitution of TUC.
In a manner unbecoming of a labour leader, Adetunji, has refused to acknowledge and accept the new executive committee led by Comrade Akinyemi Olatunji, who also doubles as the state chairman of Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), an affiliate of the Congress, and has since constituted himself into a lone dissident, albeit, sponsored by the state government to pander to its anti-labour tendencies and undermine the lawful interests of the same workers whom he once led.
Incidentally, whenever his paymasters in government failed to meet his criminal monetary demands, he turned against them by employing all manner of threats to arm-twist them to pay up. Such is the background to his latest case of banditry that has left them agape in incredulity.
