TUC Charges NLC to Be United
The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has congratulated the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on the successful conclusion of its 11th Triennial Delegates Conference held in Abuja on March 12, 2015, urging the new leaders of the congress to ensure unity of the labour movement.
The TUC gave this charge in a statement made available to newsmen, adding that the outcome of the election is a testimony that no matter the differences, the congress could arrive at an agreement.
In its congratulatory letter, the TUC charged the new leadership of the NLC led by Comrade Ayuba Wabba to be united in order to tackle the challenges facing workers in particular and the masses in general.
The letter reads in part: “To the new leadership of congress, we charge you to guard your energy for the task ahead. The only way we can overcome our challenge as workers in a turbulent political terrain is to be united in purpose. Election has come and gone. It is not a do-or-die or a winner takes it all affair. Nor is it a case of the victor and the vanquished. We all have won and that is the attitude we need to put up now if we must overcome the obstacles ahead of us.
“Finally, we assure the new leadership led by Comrade Ayuba Wabba of the cooperation of our congress even as we charge all pre-election factions to dissolve into one united Nigeria Labour Congress for all purposes. The new leadership needs everybody. Once again, we say Congratulations”.
