Troops kill several terrorists, deny thieves access to crude oil worth N291m- – DHQ

Nigerian troops, even as they mourn former late President Muhammadu Buhari, launched offensive attacks in several theatres resulting in heavy causalities on the part of terrorists and criminals .

The huge successes achieved includes the foiling of oil theft worth over Two Hundred and Ninety-One Million, Three Hundred and Twenty-Six Thousand, Four Hundred Naira (N291,326,400.00) only.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye who disclosed this on Thursday said troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in action killed scores of terrorists and arrested several others during operations that stretched from July 10 to 17, 2025.

According to him, troops confronted perpetrators of security challenges including insurgency, terrorism, banditry, farmer and herders clashes as well as secessionist agitations and economic sabotage amongst others.

He said that while several terrorists and criminals were eliminated and some of them were apprehended.

A breakdown of recovered stolen oil indicates that : 201,345 litres of crude oil, 29,730 litres of illegally refined AGO and 1,759 litres of DPK were recovered from thieves within the week.

Additionally, during the operations troops discovered and destroyed 18 crude oil cooking ovens, 32 dugout pits, 16 boats, 21 storage tanks, 17 drums and 19 illegal refining sites.

Other items recovered include, “pumping machines, drilling machines, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones and 13 vehicles. Furthermore, 42 oil thieves and other criminals were arrested while assorted arms and ammunition and some explosives, were also recovered.”

On it’s part, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in the North East Zone working in synergy with the Air Component and Hybrid forces local security stakeholders,sustained its aggressive operations across the theatre.

Their effort led to the arrest of terrorists’ logistics suppliers, recovery of weapons, dismantling of terrorists’ networks and support for safe resettlement of displaced persons.

Major General Markus Kangye said that in pursuit of terrorists, troops conducted kinetic operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorist in the general areas of Tangalaga, Bula Marwa, Mandara Girau, Agapalwa, New Marte, Kala Balge, Lassa, Kumalia and Karma as well as other areas in Bama, Kukawa, Biu, Gwoza and Abadam LGAs of Borno States
eliminating scores of terrorists that confronted the troops.

He further disclosed that large number of terrorists comprising adult males and females including children surrendered to troops as operational tempo heightened across the theatre.

Troops also conducted operations in Konduga, Marte, Ngala, Kala-Balge, Damboa, Chibok and Askira Uba LGAs of Borno State as well as Gujba, Geidam and Damaturu LGAs of Yobe State.

” During these encounters, some terrorists were killed in action, 11 of their collaborators were arrested, while 7 kidnapped victims were rescued. Some quantities of arms and ammunition were also recovered.”

Troops also retrieved from terrorists and safely detonated some IEDs, while the sum of N17,150.00 was also recovered from them.
