Top Nigerian Banks for customer service when you’re on the go
You don’t need to spend big money on a degree in Business to know that providing good customer service is key to keeping your customers coming back.
But it would seem that some business owners in Nigeria don’t seem to understand how important good customer service is.
At the top of this list are the banks.
Some banks are so terrible it takes a bit of head scratching to figure out how they keep their doors open.
As many would know, if you enter a bank and need to do anything other than get your money out, it’s like some strange juju has been performed which turns you into an unpaid employee of the bank.
You’ll be filling out endless forms, walking all over the place, jostling for space in lines and consulting with various levels of management.
But to avoid scenarios like these more Nigerians are starting to take advantage of the 24/7 customer service phone lines offered by the banks.
Banks around the world place a huge emphasis on how well their call centres deliver customer service.
So, as a result of more Nigerians using these services, we’ve decided to rank the top five banks in Nigeria for over the phone customer service.
Heritage Bank
Heritage Bank was a clear winner among the banks we spoke to over the phone. The staff at the call centre had definitely been well trained. Not once was I put on hold and the staff member I spoke to had all the answers I needed to find out what was the best account for me to open.
The information was on point so I didn’t need to waste any extra time on the phone. Even though I asked a few annoyingly stupid questions, the staff member did not skip a beat and continued to provide me with even the most basic information about bank accounts.
The lady I spoke to was very efficient and had an excellent phone manner. She was very well spoken which made it easier to hear everything she said. Not once did she try to up sell me to anything. She took in my circumstances and provided me with the options I needed.
First City Monument Bank
Access was a real contender for providing top customer service. I received all the information I needed to make a decision and the staff member always acted professionally and was easily understood. However, I was left on hold for some minutes which means Access needs to hire more staff to handle the volume of calls it receives.
Zenith Bank
Always somewhere near the top of the list, Zenith once again did pretty well for its over the phone customer service. Its customer service was great but once again I was on hold for a lot longer than I expected. When I did get through the service I received was less personalised than Heritage Bank and FCMB. However, I did receive all the information I needed.
Sterling Bank
Similar to the other banks, my only concern with Sterling was that I didn’t get all the information I needed for an account opening. Perhaps this was just an isolated incident but maybe Sterling Bank will need to look into a refresher course on its products and services for staff members.
Diamond Bank
Diamond Bank should consider itself unlucky to end up in fifth spot. The service I received was first class but after being on hold for more than 10 minutes, Diamond Bank was pushed down the list. Perhaps Diamond Bank was just extra busy when I called.
There you have it, the top five banks in Nigeria for over the phone customer service. Give your bank a try today.
