Tinubu inspects Zaria-Funtua-Sokoto Road Construction, expresses satisfaction
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inspected Zaria Funtua-Sokoto Road Construction covering the distance between Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto states alongside a team of experienced engineers. He expressed satisfaction over quality and level of Work carried out by the contractors at sites.
The President also commissioned emergency project, road repairs at Gidan Dawa and access Road to Federal Secretariat in Gusau the capital of Zamfara state.
The superhighways construction and rehabilitation Special projects are divided into three different sections, the first one is the dualisatin of Zaria-Funtua-Sokoto Road that covers Kaduna, Katsina Zamfara and Sokoto States, Section ll is Sheme-Tsafe-Gusau,87 kilometers and Section lll is Gusau to Colony Talata Mafara town, 93 kilometers.
Represented by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement for Northwestern Region, Hon. Abdullahi Tankoyakaso, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said it is our immense pleasure to be here to inspect the phase two of this Northwestern project’s inspection exercise. We were able to inspect phase one yesterday which was handled by Mother Cat while this phase two is handled by Setraco.
The total of this section two is 82KM and I am glad to announce to all Nigerians and supporters of the Renewed Hope initiative that This project is 52% completion, 6 of the 13 bridges have been solidly constructed and the concrete of the road is 15 Matters pavement with the hope that the road construction, if completed successfully may last up to 50 or 100 years if used and protected properly.
The President commended the host communities for the support they are giving to the contractors and assured the mother cat, the Triacta and the Setraco construction companies of more security coverage.
President Tinubu also commended the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi for his unwavering commitment in ensuring timely and efficient implementation of the road construction project.
Earlier in his words, the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Works, Malam Muhammad Ahmed has stated that the exercise was a media tour to inspect and commission projects in the Northwestern zone, we were at Kaduna yesterday and today we are in Zamfara. The major aim of this tour is to make known to Nigerians, the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led Administration in fulfilling campaign promises and his priority in ensuring the equal welfare for Nigerians at al levels.
The Federal controller of works in Zamfara state, Engr. Kasimu Yusuf said the road construction project was awarded on 19th April 2023, the Phase one was 105 billion but now change to One and two. At the moment, the contractors are working assiduously, delivering the job according to specifications in order to complete them at the agreed time limit.
At the first section, the contractors confirmed that the work level is at 52.5% remaining only 25.5% to complete and deliver the work, at the second section the contractors also confirmed that the level of Work is at 69% meaning that, if the contractors engage fully and relentlessly the way the level of Work is moving, they might complete the projects before the time allotted to them.
The controller mentioned that the major challenge faced in the course of the Road Construction has been that of insecurity, commending the security agencies for the supportive efforts they engaged effectively to enhance the speed of the road construction to these appreciable percentages.
