Tinubu Declares Economy on Recovery Path, Hails Nigerians’ Patience at Olubadan Coronation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday declared that Nigeria’s economy has “turned the corner” and assured citizens that they will soon begin to reap the benefits of his administration’s reforms.
Speaking at the coronation of Oba (Sen.) Abdul-Rashidi Adewolu Akanmu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland in Oyo State, the President said the progress recorded was possible because of the support, sacrifices, and endurance of Nigerians.
“Today, I am honoured to bring the cheering news that our economy has turned around and there is now light at the end of the tunnel,” Tinubu said, while thanking citizens for their patience during the implementation of economic policies introduced more than two years ago.
The President also commended the new Olubadan, describing him as a pillar of democracy who overcame an “illegal impeachment” as governor of Oyo State. He wished the monarch long life and prayed for his reign to bring prosperity to Ibadanland.
Governor Seyi Makinde, who presented Oba Ladoja with the staff of office, said the coronation had resolved lingering disputes over succession to the throne, restoring peace and stability to the Ibadan traditional institution.
Dignitaries at the event included Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), former governors Donald Duke, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Ibikunle Amosun, and Gbenga Daniel. Also present were the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, and the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye.
Tinubu, accompanied by Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu and FIRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji, described his presence in Ibadan as a “homecoming” and applauded the cultural significance of the coronation.
