Tinubu appoints Babangida’s son as chairman of Bank of Agriculture

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, son of former military president Ibrahim Babangida, as chairman of the newly revamped Bank of Agriculture.

The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, on Friday.

According to Onanuga, Muhammad Babangida, 53, holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in public relations and business communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland.

He also completed Harvard Business School’s Executive Programme on Corporate Governance in 2002.

Other appointees include Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State as chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA) and Jamilu Wada Aliyu from Kano as chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).

Also appointed is Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa as chairman of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), and Sanusi Musa (SAN), also from Kano, who will head the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR).

President Tinubu also named Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu (Sokoto State) as director-general of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA), while Sanusi Garba Rikiji (Zamfara State) becomes the new DG of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN).

In the energy sector, Tomi Somefun (Oyo State) was named managing director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC).

Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria (Kaduna State) was appointed executive director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC).
