Time for peace, not war, Osinbajo tells Niger Delta youths

The Acting President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has appealed to the Niger Delta youths engaged in acts of violence to do a turn around, saying that it was time for peace and not wars, if the region would be developed.
Prof. Osinbajo made the appeal on Tuesday, during the special interaction with stakeholders of the region on the ways to attain the desired development of the Niger Delta.
He said: “Peace is the most important quality we need. For the first time we are at the center of government and this is not the time to make war. This is the time to make peace so that we can derive all the benefits the government has for us all.”
The Acting President continued: “We should maintain peace; the Buhari government is committed to changing the narrative in the Niger Delta.
Our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is going to achieve everything that we have said we will achieve, by the grace of God and you will be extremely proud of this great party. Don’t worry, today is opposition, tomorrow is victory.”
On the cleanup of Ogoniland by the Federal Government, the acting President, disclosed that Shell Petroleum Development Cooperation (SPDC) has been compelled to give 1billion Dollars for the project. He also announced that the take-off grant has been provided and a coordinator appointed.
According to the Acting President, a committee with focus on the projects to be achieved in the community such as provision of clean water in the region, health impact assessment study, construction of soil management centre, training, amongst other things, had already been put in place.
He firmly promised the stakeholders, particularly the youths, that there was no going back anymore on tackling the nagging issues raised during the meetings as the Federal Government would not rest on its oars until the Niger Delta region was developed.
