Tikon assures on talent hunt by NTTF

Newly inaugurated President of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Engr. Ishiaku Tikon, said that the target of his administration is to discover more table tennis stars like Aruna Quadri that will take the country’s ping pong game to the highest level, even as he commended the immediate past president of the body, Enitan Oshodi for contributing immensely to the development of the country’s table tennis.
He told Extra Time on Tuesday that he will continue from where his predecessor stopped in ensuring that the country’s ranking in ATTF is not only sustained but surpassed.
“We’re going to continue from where my predecessor stopped and the target of my administration will be to catch up with the rest of the World because the World is moving fast in the game.
It’s true that we’ve done well at the regional level, but my cardinal objective would be to develop the game at the grassroots through organising zonal competitions at least three or four times a year where more Aruna Quadris and Segun Toriolas will be discovered,” he stated.
On the just postponed National Junior League, he explained that poor entries which he blamed on preparations for the last Federation board election led to the postponement, but added that modalities are being worked out to ensure the event holds later in the year.
“The postponement was caused by poor entries because many states did not get information about the event on time since we were busy preparing for election. But we are already working out modalities for the championship and will soon send out letters to all states indicating a new date for the event,” he said.
According to him, the Federation under his leadership will embrace team work and work closely with corporate organisations to ensure a successful tenure.
