Thugs Attack Police Minister in Osun

Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, was on Wednesday, attacked by suspected political thugs in Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State.

The minister, who is also from the area, was attacked when his house to house campaign train arrived the town. In the attack, about 10 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were severely injured.

The Daily Times gathered that some suspected APC thugs had unleash terror on members of PDP in the town, who were waiting to receive the minister’s campaign train. In spite of the minister’s presence, the irate youths still went ahead to attack the PDP supporters.

While trying to appeal to the members of PDP to remain calm in spite of the harassment and provocation by the APC, the minister was almost lynched by the thugs but for the prompt intervention of security operatives in his entourage who whisked him away from the scene. Narrating his ordeal, the minister recalled, “As I was coming from Orile-Owu to Gbongan in Ayedaade Local Government, in continuation of my house to house campaign for the re-election of Mr. President, members of our party were brutalised by APC thugs at Gbongan.

“As I was pleading to our party members to be law abiding and allow law to take its due course, my immediate younger brother’s wife who is on our campaign train was matcheted and she is in the hospital as I speak now. The APC thugs blocked the road and they insisted that they won’t allow me to pass and they were shooting sporadically before my security personned chased them away.

One of the victim, said that they were holding a meeting in one of their leaders’ house when the APC thugs stormed the area.
