Three herdsmen in police net for killing farmer in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command have arrested three herdsmen for allegedly killing a 40-year-old farmer, Rafiu Sowemimo.
It was gathered that the herders, while grazing their cattle had infiltrated Sowemimo’s farm in Adao village in Alabata area of Odeda Local Government Area.
The herders had reportedly destroyed some of his crops. The victim thereafter accosted the herders and challenged them to know the reason behind their destructive action.
This led to an altercation between Sowemimo and the herders, consequent upon which they stabbed him to death.
Confirming the arrest of the suspects, the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said, “ On receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama directed the Deputy Commissioner of police in-charge of operations and that of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), to move into the scene and ensure that the culprit were brought to book.
“ In compliance with the CP’s directive, the officers led other policemen to the scene and with information from the natives; they were able to arrest the three herders who perpetrated the heinous crime.”
Oyeyemi gave the identities of the arrested suspects as: Muhammed Adamu, Saliu Ismail and Saliu Adamu.
It was also learnt that the Commissioner of Police who had been to the village to condole the family of the victim has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the Homicide section of SCIID for proper investigation and prosecution.
