Text Messages: Tinubu Accuses PDP of Treachery
… Threatens to sue those behind fake text messages
The National Leader of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has threatened to sue whoever is behind the purported text message being sent round in his name advising his loyalists to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Tinubu, who addressed the media in his late mother’s residence in Ikeja, shortly after he was accredited at about 10:40am, described the development as one of the antics of the ruling party, saying such development is one of the reasons PDP does not deserve to be in power.
According to the former Lagos governor, why would he decide to leave the house he helped build and nurtured at the point its success is around the corner? He therefore advised his party members and faithful both far and near to disregard the text message, reiterating his unalloyed loyalty to the APC, and the Presidential Candidate of the party, General Mohammadu Buhari.
He said; “Many people have called me this morning seeking clarification on the text message and I was as well surprised that our opponent could be such desperate to tarnish my image. My phone number is known to many people and I wonder how I would have done that just on the day of the election. Over this, I am determined, resolute and committed to our ticket, and whoever is behind such message will be taken before a court of law.”
Speaking on the use of card readers having taken some times before his thumb could be recognised, Tinubu urged the electorate to be patient with the technology, saying nothing made by man could be completely perfect.
He added that he had witnessed it work well in Kenya and the neighbouring Ghana, and that Nigeria cannot be an exception. He pleaded with the people to maintain peace, insisting that using card reader remained the best solution to electoral fraud.
