Tension mounts as IGP summons Emir Sanusi

There is tension within Kano as the Police Headquarters in Abuja have issued a summon on embattled Emir HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to appear before it on Tuesday (8/4/25) .
The invitation is about alleged infraction over the activities during last Sallah celebrations in Kano.
Police Commissioner Rufus Olajide Ibitoye in a letter on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Force Intelligence directed Sanusi to appear before DIG, Force headquarters unfailingly.
The Police said Sanusi will appear before the investigation department to answer questions about what happened under his watch during the Sallah celebrations.
It was alleged that Sanusi has been summoned regarding “the Sallah event following claims of a Durbar ban being breached”.

The invitation letter dated April 4, 2025, No CR: 3000/FID/FHQ/ABJ/VOL. 59/697 added “Your availability is highly sought for the purpose of investigation”.
