Teenager denies killing friend in Lagos

A young man who identified himself as Adeyemi Olalekan 18, has denied his involvement in the alleged killing of one Endurance Augustine of same age in Ajegunle.

Adeyemi who is an apprentice at a shoe making shop was recently arrested over the death of Endurance in January.
Although two suspects – Imole Olarenwaju, 15, and Segun Malik, 17, had earlier been arrested in connection with the murder, but Adeyemi was recently arrested as one of the suspected murderers.

Father of the deceased, Mr. Augustine, who had reported the case at the Ajeromi police division before it was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), said he had seen the suspects carrying the lifeless body of his son in a wheel barrow before he alerted the police.

“On the day of the incident, at about 8pm, I had seen about four boys carrying my son in a wheel barrow. Looking from a distance, I saw blood all over him and it scared me. I quickly rushed to them and asked them what happened and where they were taking my son to. They told me Otunba asked them to take my son’s corpse to Baale’s house.

“I started shouting for help. They fled and left the body of my son who was already dead. I had to go and report to the police who succeeded in arresting two of the suspects. And the others were still been trailed by the police.”
“I am glad that one other person had been arrested because I am yet to understand the reason why my son was killed. I just want those involved in the act punished for their action.”

Adeyemi, however said they had all gone for a birthday party organised by a prominent person (name withheld) for his wife at Kehinde Street. It was at the same party that a fight ensued between boys from Kehinde Street and Ezeagu Street. I left and went home. I didn’t know someone was killed. I don’t even know anything about the issue on ground. I was not involved.”

Information revealed that the said fight was a clash between factional cult groups, which led to the death of the deceased who was shot and matched severally.

Although the case has been charged to court, it is yet to be confirmed if the deceased was also a member of any of the warring cult groups as investigations into matter is still on.
