Taraba PDP, APC in spat over Ishaku’s 54-day absence

The Taraba state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted speculations by the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state that Governor Darius Ishaku whereabouts is unknown for the past 54 days.
PDP state Publicity Secretary, Alh. Inuwa Bakari stated this in a press release he signed and issued to journalists in Jalingo.
Bakari, who described the action of the APC as sadistic, noted that government business has never seized to function in the state and frowned at the leadership of APC in the state, who according to him, were trying to make Gov. Ishaku’s stay outside the state an issue.
While informing the leadership of APC in the state that they have picked a no issue, Bakari added that the government of Taraba state is intact and working tirelessly.
“Executive meetings are held as expected and even of recent, the governor paid a visit to the World Bank and the Japanese ambassador to Nigeria in Abuja, which was aired on television and broadcast on radio nationally and here in the state,” he said.
The PDP spokesman also called on the people of the state to disregard the allegations of the APC’s state Chairman, Tukur El-sudi that ministries in the state have been deserted by workers and salaries remain unpaid as at when due by the PDP administration in the state.
He said that the claims of the APC chairman are baseless and unfounded, pointing out that no right thinking Taraba person will condescend so low to making such a statement.
“The Taraba state civil servants can attest to this open secret that they have never been owed a dime of their salaries, since the inception of the Gov. Ishaku administration from 2015 to date, while negotiations have reached advanced stage on the implementation of the new minimum wage,” he added.
Our correspondent reports that the last public function attended by the state governor was the presentation of the 2020 budget estimates to the state House of Assembly on December 19, 2019.
