Taraba NULGE disburses N8m to 192 beneficiaries

The Taraba State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has disbursed about N8 million welfare package to its retired and deceased members.

The ceremony, held yesterday at NULGE House, Jalingo, had in attendance the National President, Comrade Ibrahim Khaleel who lauded the efforts of the State leadership for the initiative.

Khaleel described Unionism as a way of cooperation, solidarity and sacrifice adding that members’ welfare is the top priority.

While calling on the leadership of NULGE in Taraba to keep the flag flying, Khaleel further enjoined members to remain committed at all times.

“What you have displayed today is the three components that put Unionism together”

Earlier, in his address of welcome, NULGE State President, Comrade Musa Mahmood said the Scheme was in line with the Union’s provision, aimed at providing relief and succour to lessen the sufferings of its members.

Comrade Mahmood, who described the event as unique said, it was his first time since assumption of office as NULGE State President.

He also revealed that the beneficiaries of the Welfare Scheme were Retirees and deceased members’ families who were about 192 in number.

The State NULGE President however, used the forum to inform the gathering some of its achievements, like “the purchase of constructed lodge and accommodation worth about seventy million naira and an ongoing construction of a Recreation Centre with Lodge containing 36 Rooms”.
