Suspected Informant To Bandits Flees As Local Residents launch A Manhunt For His Arrest

Barely a month after bandits attacked Chibok community and kidnapped 5 farmers, the residents of the community have launched an aggressive manhunt to apprehend and arrest a man accused of secretly working with the bandit group in terrorizing the community, it was confirmed.

The local residents accused one Clement Odigie, a local dweller in the community as secretly working as an informant with the bandits to terrorize the community.

According to Adamu Aliu a community leader in Chibok community in Chibok local government area, the spate of kidnappings by the bandits increased recently since Clement Odigie arrived and started dwelling in the community.

It was said that until recently everyone lived peacefully in the community until his sudden arrival from Edo State.

Aliu said ” we are not against a non-indigene living amongst us but the man Clement Odigie who is from Edo state in the Southern part of the country has integrity issues as he has often times been confronted on several occasions by others for conspiring with bandits to terrorize us in this community.”

Another local resident identified as Ahmed Mustapha stated that the indigenes of Chibok community are peace loving and very hospitable people who are very accomodating in nature.

However the arrival of Clement Odigie in the community gradually exposed to each and everyone to all sorts of security risk as he was always in company of strange looking faces some of whom are alien to the community, it was gathered.

“Recently in June 2024 20 farmers were kidnapped and others killed while property were also destroyed and Clement Odigie has been secretly, according to our investigation, secretly working as an informant to the bandit group terrorizing this community” he added.

It was confirmed that the said Clement Odigie had secretly fled from the community after he got wind of the secret plot by members of the community to apprehend and arrest him for being responsible for giving information to bandits leading to several abduction in the community.

Meanwhile, the 20 farmers are yet to regain freedom as their relatives are unable to meet the conditions for the payment of the ransoms to the bandits.
