Suspected assassins kill 28-yr-old man in Delta
Armed suspects across Delta state at the weekend allegedly killed a 28-year- old man identified as David Nwokorie at his residence at Grace Land Estate in Okpanam Community near Asaba, the state capital.

It was gathered that the hired assassins allegedly swooped on the man whom sources said is native of Okpanam Community and gunned him down after robbing a nearby house before moving into their victim’s house.
Sources said the gunmen nothing from the home of the deceased, while his shocked family members watched helplessly as their bread winner was killed.
An eyewitness, John Benjamin said that the hoodlums armed with AK-47 rifles on arrival at the victim’s house, ordered them to lie face down and shot into the air sporadically.
“They told the victim that they were out to kiill him and that he should say his last prayers which he did before they shot him and was crying on the ground for help before he gave up the ghost,” the eyewitness narrated.
A family member on condition of anonymity, opined that the suspected assassins were hired by some persons in the community who were exposed by the victim for their evil activities.
He however assured that those who killed the victim will never get away with it.
Okpanam Community has in the last few months been under siege of hoodlums including suspected Fulani herdsmen who have allegedly killed several residents.

Although, the state police command in has claimed to have arrested many suspects in connection with high profile crimes in the community, appealed to the police to redouble its efforts with a view to bringing those responsible for the continued attacks to book.
While reacting to the alleged killing of the 28- year old man in Okpanam Community, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed that the man was killed by suspected assassins.
He added that investigation was ongoing with a view to ensuring that those responsible for the act are arrested and prosecuted.
The police spokesman appealed to the people of the community to exercise restraint as the police will ensure that the suspects are arrested and detained before being charged to court.
