Suspect Killer Of Akwa Ibom Job Seeker Pleads Guilty

Uduak Akpan, the man accused of assassinating Iniubong Umoren, the woman lured out of her home with a phony job interview, has pled guilty.

Miss Umoren was raped and killed on the outskirts of Uyo in April, and her body was buried in a shallow grave in Mr Akpan’s family property, where the crime was committed.

Akpan is charged with two counts of murder and rape in the case, which is being prosecuted by the Akwa Ibom State Government. Frank Akpan, his father, is suspected of aiding him in escaping after he murdered his victim.

Uduak Akpan pled guilty to murder at the start of the trial on Monday at a State High Court in Uyo.

He, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to the rape charge.

Justice Bennett Umoh, the sitting judge, then delayed the matter to August 18, 2021.

Uduak Akpan is accused of killing Umoren at Nung Ikono Obio village in the Uruan Local Government Area of the state on April 29, 2021, after luring her out of her home with a false job interview.
