Supreme Court Halts Constitution Amendment
The Supreme Court has ordered the National Assembly to halt all issues pertaining to the 1999 constitution amendment.
In a seven-man panel led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, the National Assembly was ordered to maintain the status quo on the matter until June 18.
The court also directed the issuance of hearing notice on the National Assembly for it to appear on that date to respond to the suit that was lodged against the proposed alterations to the constitution, by President Goodluck Jonathan.
