Support Okowa in 2019, wait for 2023, Amori urges Urhobos

Court-ousted Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Chief Ighoyota Amori, has urged Urhobos home and abroad to support the re-election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa come 2019 while they wait for their turn in 2023.

He made the plea weekend at his Mosogar Villa while addressing members of his campaign team, AMORI 4 SENATE 2019, at a retreat organised to set the campaign agenda for his 2019 senatorial ambition.

Amori is frantically gunning to return to the Red Chambers to represent Delta Central Senatorial District under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) come 2019.

It will be recalled that he was unceremoniously ousted from the upper legislative arm by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress (APC) through the courts after the 2015 general elections.

Chief Amori, a PDP chieftain and also the Political Adviser to PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, during the address, said the love Urhobos have for Okowa would actualise his (Okowa) return as governor come 2019.

According to Chief Amori, Governor Okowa has already wormed himself into the heart of the Urhobo nation through his developmental strides, numerous political appointments are given sons and daughters of Urhobo nation like never before and his long history of cordial political and social relationships he (Okowa) has with leaders and people of the largest ethnic nationality in the state.

He noted that the type of ethnic politics, which created disunity and acrimony among sons and daughters of Urbobo nation occasioned by the Uvwiamuge Declaration, would never be allowed to fester again in order to sustain the current peace and unity among the people.

Speaking further, Chief Amori conjectured that “In 2019, we are going to be united for Gov Okowa who has shown sufficient leadership pedigree through good governance; building sustainable political and socioeconomic bridges across the three Senatorial districts.

“As a campaign team, we (the Urhobos) must bear in mind that our loyalty is first to the governor who happens to be the PDP sole candidate in 2019.

“We must, therefore, take the Okowa 2019 message to our various wards, local governments and door-to-door to ensure that all eligible voters are mobilized for our governor’s landslide victory come 2019.

“Gov Okowa has promised to hand over power to Urhobo governor on May 29, 2023. This is a gentleman’s promise and it’s sacrosanct; therefore, do not be deceived by the sugar-coated tongue of any APC governorship aspirant or leaders who are busy for nothing talking about Urhobo agenda.

“Urhobo agenda will be 2023 because Delta North’s two tenures must be completed by the incumbent governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

“I will do all and anything within my God-given abilities to give Delta Central quality representation at the Senate. The Urhobo nation is currently at the backstage in the scheme of things due to poor representation by the grossly inexperience APC Senator.

“I will work with other members of the red chambers to attract development and other dividends of democracy to Delta State and Delta Central.

“I deeply appreciate your commitment and I count on your continuous support, hard work and political advocacy in your respective ward and LGAs. What we have learnt here today shall be built upon from time to time.

“This campaign organisation is the first ever to organise a retreat in this dispensation, thereby setting the pace for other senatorial aspirant(s) to follow. We are a pacesetter campaign family which is why Delta Central Senatorial District shall experience the best of representation during my tenure from May 29, 2019, by the Grace of God.”

Meanwhile, the Director General of the AMORI 4 SENATE 2019 campaign organization, Elegbete Barrister Moses Odibo a.k.a Speak Appear has urged the members to avoid unnecessary attacks on other aspirants within the PDP family, adding that a house divided against itself can never stand.
