Support for Buhari, best way to actualise Igbo presidency -Ubani
Igbos across Nigeria have been advised to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as such was the shortest and best way of actualising the Igbo presidency in 2023.
This is the view of the vice president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Monday Ubani, in an interview with The Daily Times,
noting that it would benefit the Igbos more if it gives total backing to the reelection bid of the present administration as it could only serve one more tenure,
against a new presidential candidate who may like to use another two tenure of eight years, which would derail the presidential ambitious bid of the South East region.
The former Ikeja NBA branch chairman urged Nigerians to be patient with the current administration, stressing that most of it programmes were reformative and correctional which would yield the needed dividend with time.
He said “my advice to Igbos is for them to support Buhari, because if we want to shift our support to another candidate he may want to use another eight years in office.
That is the shortest way of actualising Igbo presidency in 2023 for now.
“Of course there are complaints about appointment, but I think the President can do more, let him run an inclusive administration were everybody would be involved and that would give people a sense of belonging and peace would reign in the country.
“The best hands are everywere, let him get them into his government and with this the country can keep moving.” Ubani said.
On the alleged marginalisation of the South East in appointments into key positions in the country, Ubani expressed dissatisfaction with the current appointments,
adding however that President Muhammadu Buhari can do more for the region, while charging him to run and inclusive administration which would carry everyone along for peace to reign in the country.
Speaking further on the defection of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his promise to give priority to the youths if elected President,
Ubani noted that he does not have faith in the former Vice President to actualise what he has said, adding that he did not accomplish much as the Vice President of the country.
“Atiku has the right to decamp to any party he wants, but he has always been decamping from one party to another.
I really don’t know what he said about the youths, but you know politicians, you can’t trust them. But what did he do as Vice President?” Ubani asked.
