StarTimes Nigeria donates 6,000 facemasks to FG

StarTimes Nigeria, a subsidiary of Startimes Media, a Chinese-based company which offers Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Network Services in Nigeria, recently donated 6,000 facemasks to Nigeria.

The donation was part of StarTimes contribution towards the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the country, a statement by Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, Special adviser to finance, budget and national planning minister on Media and Communications has said.

Nigerian government has recently through the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19, Boss Mustapha has now made it compulsory for wearing face mask by citizens.

Mustapha who also doubles as Secretary to the Government of the Federation noted that the facemask goes a long way in curtailing the spread of the virus as the country gradually eases off the lockdown.
The company, who made the donation as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) towards the fight against the scourge in Nigeria, was received by Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning Mrs. Zainab Ahmed in Abuja.

Receiving the donation, Mrs. Ahmed commended the company for its kindly and friendly gesture. 
According to the Minister, “Startimes has proven over time that it is a reliable partner”. She said Nigeria has enjoyed the company’s relationship and it has shown the advantage of a public private partnership (PPP).
Responding, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Startimes Nigeria, Mr. David Zhang, reiterated the partnership between the two countries and promised to continue to support Nigeria in every way possible. 
He added that the company is adding an educational channel on their platform to help students continue learning in this period of Covid-19 pandemic
