Social welfare activities earn Marcus Rashford PFA award

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has won PFA community Champions award, all thanks to his social welfare activities.

During the COVID-19 triggered lockdown,Rashford through the Fareshare UK charity raised 20 million pounds to supply meals to struggling families, recalling that the Voucher helped his family while growing up.

The 22-year-old worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those in need during the recent pandemic, which has been described as inspiring by United.

Marcus Rashford received the 2019/20 season award alongside United women midfielder Jackie Groenen.  

The England born commenting on his award said, “I’m thrilled to have won the PFA Community Champion award in what has been a very important season for me, both on and off the pitch,” said Rashford. 

“Building on those childhood experiences is a big reason why I’ve been so passionate about the campaign this year to try and tackle child poverty.”

Daily Times recalls that in June 2020, a Ghanaian national named Michael Boye Marquaye claimed to be Rashford’s biological father after reportedly having a relationship with his mother 22 years ago in the UK, however Rashford is yet to respond to the claim.
