Skills Displayed at Le Bolt Cup
The football pitch of Medical Hostel, University of Benin (UNIBEN), was a beehive of activities recently as students trooped out to watch the maiden edition of the Le-Bolt Cup. Organised by Osehike Igwubor, a final year Medicine and Surgery student in collaboration with the University of Benin Medical Students Association (UBEMSA) the event was a Six Aside tournament.
Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Francis Osagiede, commended Osehike for putting up the competition which according to him will go a long way in the history of the university as the maiden unifying tournament. Observing that the role of exercise in the development of a student cannot be overemphasised, Osagiede called on the participating teams to play by the rules of the game and exhibit the spirit sportsmanship.
On his part, Osehike said he deemed it fit to organise the event as a way of giving back to the university before his graduation.
The tournament featured eight teams namely Mydas FC, Lazio FC, Obas FC, Calculus FC, IYP FC, Titans FC, Crystal Palace FC and Stars FC.
Making it to the final was a match between Mydas FC and Lazio FC with Mydas FC winning by 4 -1 to the end of 90 minutes making them winner of the cup. They were rewarded with N30, 000 and the cup. Lazio FC was rewarded with N15, 000.
