Shun unnecessary strike actions, Oba of Benin admonishes doctors

The Benin monarch, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare, has admonished doctors and other health workers across the nation to take proactive steps to nip in the bud the incessant strike actions rocking the medical sector in the country.
Oba Ewuare explained that many lives which would have been saved were tragically lost, due to the ceaseless strike actions in Nigerian hospitals.
The warning came on the heels of series of strike actions by doctors, nurses and health workers nationwide.
The royal father gave the warning while playing host to the new Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Dr. Darlington Obaseki, in his palace in Benin, the Edo state capital.
Omo N’Oba who fumed at the unfortunate situation, challenged the new CMD of University of Benin Teaching Hospital to save lives rather than concentrating on unnecessary strike actions that could be detrimental to the people.
The monarch also tasked Dr Obaseki to leave no stone unturned at revamping all the departments of the hospital better than his predecessors for the benefit of all.
Earlier, the visitor, Dr. Obaseki, told Oba Ewuare that he was at the palace to formerly inform him of his appointment as the new CMD of UBTH as well as seek for royal blessings.
