Shocking Facts About Prophet Genesis That Many Nigerians Don’t Know

Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, fondly known as Genesis Prophet, is a name that rings loud in Nigeria’s Christian community. As the founder of Genesis Global Church, he has carved a distinct identity among white garment prophets, drawing thousands of followers with his unique style, spiritual insight, and undeniable charisma. While many know him as a powerful preacher, healer, and man of God, there are several lesser-known facts about this anointed servant that may surprise you.
One of the most remarkable things about Prophet Genesis is his gift for accurate prophecy. Years ago, he foretold that Aare Gani Adams would be installed as the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland. At the time, Adams reportedly laughed it off. But years later, when the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, bestowed the honour upon him, the prophecy came to light. Prophet Genesis’s gift has earned him the respect of powerful individuals, so much so that when a prominent politician from Ijebu fell ill, he requested the prophet’s prayers, even though the man of God was abroad.
Despite his strong spiritual calling, Prophet Genesis has a deep-seated desire to study law. If given the opportunity, he says he would love to become a lawyer. This ambition shows his belief in knowledge and self-development, proving that one can balance both spiritual and academic goals.
The prophet is also known for his generosity toward underprivileged youths. Many call him “Dad” because of how much he has done for them, especially in education. With his personal resources, he has sponsored numerous students through higher institutions, showing that his ministry is rooted in love, not just preaching.
Interestingly, Prophet Genesis never thought he would become a man of God. During his early years, he struggled to survive and often slept in churches. His first contact with the Celestial Church was met with suspicion, he thought the white garment tradition was strange. However, the kindness and acceptance he received changed his perspective. He joined the church choir and found purpose through fasting, prayer, and selfless service. It was through this humble beginning that his divine calling was revealed.
Another shocking detail is that Prophet Genesis does not compel his members to pay tithes. He believes that giving should come from the heart, not from fear or religious pressure. He often cites Jesus, who ministered without asking for tithes, urging people instead to care for the poor. His philosophy promotes cheerful giving over rigid doctrine.
Unknown to many, Prophet Genesis was born into a Muslim family in Abeokuta, Ogun State. His birth name was Wasiu. His wife is Sakirat, while his parents were named Sulaimon and Risikat. The family later converted to Christianity, joining Christ Apostolic Church in Oshodi, Lagos, more than 40 years ago.
Despite his massive influence and popularity, Prophet Genesis never attended a university. Yet, he is eloquent, fluent in English, and highly intelligent. His ability to speak with clarity and depth often surprises people, especially those meeting him for the first time. He has worked hard to educate himself and can hold his own among the most learned pastors and professionals.
Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe is a rare breed. His life story is filled with pain, passion, prophecy, and purpose. Whether you admire him for his bold teachings, accurate revelations, or heart for the people, one thing is clear, he’s a prophet who has walked through the fire and come out refined.
