Shettima Calls for National Unity, Urges Muslims to Uphold Ramadan Values Beyond Fasting
As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of unity, discipline, and compassion instilled during the sacred period.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of Tafsir at the State House Mosque in Abuja, Shettima emphasized that Ramadan’s essence should extend beyond the fasting period, shaping daily interactions and governance.
“Fasting has taught us sacrifice, discipline, and empathy. But the true test of faith is how we embody these values beyond Ramadan. Let us extend kindness where there is cruelty, offer generosity where there is need, and radiate love where there is division,” he urged.
The Vice President also called on Nigerians to continue praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nation’s progress, emphasizing that leadership is a collective responsibility.

“Our religious leaders play an indispensable role in shaping our values and guiding our hearts. Governance is not the burden of government alone but a shared duty among all citizens,” he stated.
Shettima’s remarks come at a crucial time as the administration seeks to foster peace, stability, and economic growth amid various challenges.
In his closing prayers, Sheikh Abdulwahid Sulaiman Abubakar, Chief Imam of the State House Mosque, sought divine wisdom and strength for President Tinubu to lead Nigeria toward unity and prosperity.
