Sharing formular stalls employment e- exam in Niger

Sharing formular by the five principal team of the Niger State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has prompted the State Assembly to order for the suspension of the scheduled employment e- examination to the sum of N43 million despite zero allocation for the Commission in 2018 budget.

The Assembly Committee chairman on Labour and Productivity, Hon. Malik Madaki Bosso, gave the order after a two- day meeting with the Commission, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Head of Service HOS at the weekend in Assembly Chamber.

Hon. Bosso accused the Commission chairman, Alhaji Shehu Galadima of high headedness, not following due process in policy making, lack of trust for his team and not synergizing with the permanent Commissioners 1,2,3 and 4 before taken decisions of the Commission.

Agreed by the SSG Hon. Ibrahim Isah Ladan at the final resolution for the suspension for later date, he added that it’s only the Commission that has the power for recruitment in the state and gave a matching order that the team must go back to do the needful within few weeks to ensured the system work accordingly.

The State Assembly however discovered a disunited Commission and therefore invited them to put to an end the crisis going on to ensure peace and stability in the system as well scheduled a new date for the examination.

It was revealed that over 40,000 candidates applied online through a potter while 35,143 received response through text messages for the available vacancy of only 2,000 to be employed.

The legislators insisted in knowing the number of candidate for each local government and measures to actualized it for fairness and equity.

The meeting revealed that only the Commission chairman and the permanent Secretary conspicuously aware of the N43 million approval by the Governor for the exercise that was slated for between 3rd to 9th April, 2018.

The Assembly Committee chairman reiterated that the commission refused to appear before the budget defense and was given zero allocation due to the Commission chairman resistance to attend reason it was given zero allocation for 2018 and therefore directed ministry of finance not to release any money for the Commission.

However, the Chairman of Niger State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Alhaji Shehu Galadima in his defense to documented allegations to the assembly against him alleged sharing formular asked by his members he resisted that begun the crisis within team.

The four Permanent Commissioner one to four led by former SSG, Comrade Adams Erena, Hajiya Asmau Yusuf and two others accused their chairman of authoritarian style of leadership, lacked team work, never agreed on e- exam due to state localities without network and N43 million for examination was exorbitant hence were guided by the Constitution and rules.

They further said that the Chairman’s arrival on the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna as centre for the CBT test was not known to them as they were not given any responsibility hence no official meeting in the last two years where policy matters and resolutions were arrived at and accused him of bad leadership.
