SGF, Sen Kawu revives irrigation in Kano

The Federal government through the office of the Secretary of Government of the Federation and Senator Kawu Sumaila have concluded plans to revive the irrigation system and water channels in the southern Senatorial district of Kano state .
The project, when completed will address the persistent water channels problems faced by the southern part of Kano and give the people a much desired relief.
The project initiated by the senator will be coordinated through the Ecological Project Office (EPO), office of the secretary to government of the federation (SGF) with the support of senator Suleiman Abdurahaman Kawu Sumaila .
When completed ,the farming activities of the area will be improved especially irrigation farming system as well as address situations of washed-away bridges that affects businesses and means of livelihood in the zone .
The permanent secretary of the EPO, office of SGF Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndapho who disclosed this when she led team of experts, including from EPO’s office, Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Consultants, community leaders and other stakeholders on assessment visit to Challawa-Goje dam in Karaye, Tiga dam and washed away bridge in Bebeji and Kafinchiri dam in Garko local government area conveyed the commitment of the Federal government to address the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
According to the permanent secretary, the assessment visit followed senator Kawu Sumaila’s and other prominent Kano people’s calls for urgent interventions to avoid the situation escalating and becoming hydra headed .
Senator Kawu Abdurahaman Sumaila who represents Kano South along side other concerned citizens of the state have led the calls for urgent interventions in many instances and situations that could potentially affect the livelihood of his people if not addressed .
Senator Kawu has being in the forefront of advocacy for good governance and dividends of democracy for the electorates as the only meaningful and appropriate compensation for there participation in constitutional democracy .
Kawu a former principal officer in the House of Representatives and former presidential liaison on National Assembly (House of Representatives ) has equally promoted focused leadership that seeks to impact positively on the electorates.
