SGF makes u-turn, seeks new date to appear before Senate panel

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), David Babachir Lawal, has made a u-turn on his appearance before a Senate panel investigating the Presidential Initiative on North East (PINE) Thursday.

The SGF was billed to appear before the ad-hoc panel on the investigation led by Senator Shehu Sani (APC, Kaduna).

But the SGF had on Wednesday written the panel that he would not appear before the panel because he had approached a court on the matter.

However, in a new letter Thursday, the SGF asked the panel to give him another date for the appearance.

He said the request became necessary because the Senate panel’s hearing of Thursday clashed with “a pressing engagement of government.”
