The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim has commended the leadership of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) and that of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NHCON) for their exemplary leadership and strong synergy.
The SGF made this commendation in Abuja at a dinner organized by the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Mr. John Kennedy Opara in honour of the outgoing Chairman of NHCON, Alhaji Mohammed Bello who had completed his second tenure in office. In the words of Sen Anyim: “the spirit, love and the level of cooperation that had existed under the two organizations are quite exemplary”.
The SGF who was the special guest of Honour at the event said: “I have twins brothers as my children” he added, working with both Chief Executives added to one of my experiences when I was in the Senate. According to him, “never for any reason I realized that the Chairman of Hajj Commission was a Muslim”, he described him as “ a hard working person who made his work a lot much easier”.
The SGF congratulated the outgoing Chairman for his sacrificial leadership. According to him, “you have built bridges. The future is quite bright, you are still young, the work you have done in the Commission will speak for you”, he said.
In his remarks, the Chief host, Mr. John Kennedy Opara narrated the early days of the Commission under the able leadership of Alhaji Mohammed Bello who accommodated them for two years in the same building at Malimfasi, Area 11, Abuja and eventually vacated the building for NCPC at no cost. In the words of the NCPC boss, “I have never seen where a landlord moves out of his house for a tenant”.
He commended the synergy they enjoyed working under the leadership of the secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim.
He commended the inter faith harmony between the two organizations. According to him, “this is very rare, it really inspired me”.
According to the NCPC helmsman, though the mode of worship may differ but we are worshiping one God’’ Today, I feel so pound that I am associated to a man like this”.
Mr. Opara stated that “when one finishes one stage, God takes you to another level”. He affirmed that “the essence of life is the value we add to life”. He advised him not to give up, but should continue to show love to others.
In his vote of thanks, Alhaji Mohammed Bello thanked Mr. Opara for organizing such a befitting dinner in his honour.
He described Mr. Opara as a very hard working man who is ready to take risk when he is convinced of what he wants.
He commended him for the visible transformation that had taken place in NCPC even when the Hajj Commission existed before it.
He thanked the NCPC boss for being there for him and for providing the platform to compare notes.
