Senator Natasha barred from n’assembly gate as Aisha Yesufu, supporters protest
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was on Tuesday blocked from entering the National Assembly complex in Abuja, sparking a protest by her supporters and civil rights activists.
The suspended lawmaker representing Kogi Central arrived at the gate alongside activist Aisha Yesufu, rights advocate Mama P, activist Randy, and a crowd of supporters. But security personnel denied them access to the premises.
Yesufu confronted the officers at the gate, challenging the instruction allegedly issued to prevent Natasha’s entry.
“National Assembly is meant to be for everyone. Why are you stopping us? We are not abiding doesn’t mean we are cowards,” she said.
The tension escalated as supporters chanted “Push!” and attempted to force their way in.
They were later seen marching towards the complex, singing solidarity songs and demanding justice for the senator.
