Senator Bashir Garba Lado, representing Kano Central constituency and the Special Adviser to the President on Agriculture, Hajiya Baraka Sani were both attacked at their Nassarawa polling centre in Kano city by suspected supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Both belong to the PDP. Hajia Sani was formerly Commissioner for Agriculture in Kano State on the platform of the APC.
The attackers chanted anti-PDP songs and declared support for the APC.
Both Lado and Baraka managed to escape with some injuries.
Hajiya Baraka returned shortly after, with some security personnel who escorted her to the polling centre where she cast her vote but the senator did not return probably due to the injuries he sustained.
