The senator represented Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Sen. Haruna Jika has commenced the distribution of food items worth millions of naira to the less privilledged and vulnerable persons to caution the effect of border closure and restriction imposed by the state government.
This was made known by the senator’s aide, Alhaji Suleiman Yamai while speaking to the Daily Times in Bauchi on Saturday.
The items being distributed according to Yamai include 3000 bags of rice, 3000 bags of corn flour as well as unquantified number of hand sanitizers.
“As I am talking to you now, the distribution of the food items is ongoing. We have taken some to Ganjuwa, Darazo, Misau, Ningi, Dambam and Warji Local Government Areas to be shared to his people to mitigate their sufferings,” Alhaji Yamai said.
He said that the distribution was not done on the bases of political or religious affiliation.
The senator’s aide noted that boss has made adequate provision to assist the people of his district to overcome the challenges of life due to the incidence of COVID-19 Pandemic.
To ensure transparency and accountability, Yamai said that the distribution of the relief materials is been undertaken by a committee headed by a renowned Islamic scholar, Dr. Zubairu Madaki as the chairman.
Yamai noted that they have also embarked on sensitization campaigns for people to understand that the virus which is a global pandemic is real and for them to adhere to measures put on ground by government to curb its spread in the state.

Senator Jika’s aide who commended the state and the federal governments for responding appropriately to the outbreak of the virus in the country.
He informed that his principal has set up a committee that will carry out sensitization and distribution of hand sanitizers and other personal protective gears.
