Senator Binta thanks constituents after defeat

The senator representing Adamawa North, Senator Binta Masi, has in an unusual show of sportsmanship, commended her electorate for the outcome of the February 23 elections, which the APC lost.

Sen. Binta said those who voted for and against her in the Presidential and National Assembly elections were expressing their interests, asserting that democracy has prescribed for voters to make such choices after every four years.

She said that democracy gives constituents the right to choose the kind of leaders they want based on services rendered and that she would remain grateful for the opportunity to serve, and would remain committed in the service of the common interests of her people.

Binta made the remarks while addressing newsmen in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.

She said that “I want to thank everyone who voted for me in the February 23 senate elections for Adamawa North Senatorial seat. I also appreciate all of the people who were supportive of my candidacy in various ways.

“I commend those who did not support me and pray that they have more reasons to appreciate my contributions for our common good.

“I salute all the candidates for their interests, efforts and recommend that more people, especially women (as we are still underrepresented) be more involved in active politics.

“I believe that the biggest room in the world is the room for improvement and I am glad that together we will make a difference for God and our beloved country.

“I am certain that we will see more good days for God have planned some better things for us and only together can these things be made perfect.”
