Senate urges FG to provide support to victims of Uyo church building collapse

THE Senate has urged the Federal Government to direct the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and and other relevant agencies to immediately provide relief material such as drugs to alleviate the plight of the victims of Uyo church building collapse who are now receiving treatment in various hospitals in the country.
Similarly, It also called on the federal government to adequately compensate the families of the victims of the Adamawa Boko Haram bomb blast as well as take care of the wounded.
The Senate tasked rescue operators in the country to always be at alert to facilitate rescue operation of lives in similar circumstances.
It further urged the federal government to direct professional bodies to withdraw license of their colleagues who are culpable in any building collapse in any part of the country.
These resolutions followed a motion co sponsored by the Senate Minority Leader, Sen Godswill Akpabio (PDP Akwa Ibom North West) and Sen Binta Garuba Marsi (Adamawa. North).
