Senate summons Edun, Bagudu, Alake , DG Budget Office on Solid Mineral budget

The Senate has summoned the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu and the Director General, Budget Office of the Federation, Tanimu Yakubu to appear before the Joint Committee on Solid Minerals Development on Monday.

They are to give detailed insights and clarifications on the budgetary allocation to the Ministry of Solid Mineral Development.

The invitation followed the resolution at the budget defence of the Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committee on Solid Minerals Development with the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, held on Friday, 10th January 2025, to step down the budget provision for the ministry which the joint committee found grossly inadequate.

Recall that the Federal government has allocated a total sum of Nine billion, nine hundred and nineteen million, two hundred and twenty-three thousand, seven hundred and sixty-four naira (N9,919,223,764.00) only, earmarked for capital expenditure for the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and its agencies.
