Mahmood Yau, the Director of SEMA Disaster and Relief Management, presented the materials to Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMC), and Community Disaster Management and Mitigation Platform (CDMMP), in Kaduna.

Yau said the gesture was to strengthen the local and community structures, to mitigate the impact of disasters on victims.

He said the items were donated in collaboration with the Christian Aid, to build community resilience and preparation for possible disasters.

“We hope to continue to strengthen your efforts and promote disaster reduction in the state,’’ Yau said.

Yakubu Jarimi, the Chairman of Kaduna South LGA, commended SEMA and Christian Aid for the donation, and assured that they would be judiciously distributed if the need arose.

Jarrimi called for more support to local structures.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Yau visited Malali, Unguwan Rimi, Halliru Dan-Toro, Rafin Guza, Barnawa and Bashama communities in Kaduna North and South LGAs. (NAN)
