Security forces kill militia leader in Benue

The combined team of ‘Operation Whirl Stroke’ Tracking Team and Special Forces troops of Sector 2 deployed in Zaki Biam has carried out a raid operation on a criminal hideout off the Zaki Biam and Katsina-Ala highway.

The operation according to a statement signed by Director Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche, led to the killing of one Terugwa Igbagwa alias Orjondu.

The late Orjondu according to the statement was said to be the second most wanted criminal kingpin next to Terwase Akwaza alias Gana in Benue state.

He was alleged to be responsible for kidnapping, armed robbery, assassination, gun running and other criminal activities around Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo Local Government Areas for many years.

Items recovered from him, according to the statement, include one AK- 47 rifle, one locally made rifle, one AK- 47 magazine with 30 rounds of 7.62mm ammunitions and some charms.

“The military high command congratulates ‘Operation Whirl Stroke’ for their exploits in recent times,” the statement said.
