SDP Guber Candidate Assures all-inclusive Governance
Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Taraba State Chief David Sabo Kente has assured that he would run an all-inclusive government which its cardinal objectives would be to unit and ensure the peaceful coexistence rather than promote division through parochial and selfish agenda that would lead the already chaotic state into more destruction.
In a press statement, the SDP governorship hopeful who gave the assurance while addressing members of Reformed Church of Christ for Nations (RCCN) 2015 Revival Conference at the RCCN secretariat, Lissam Road, Takum observed that as a Christian that believed in the doctrine of the Church not making Church donations public, however revealed that he became encouraged to do so based on the open acknowledgement received from the President and the entire congregation.
Chief Kente pointed out that long before he became interested in the governorship of Taraba State, as a philanthropist whose interest was to help the needy, the Church through the DSK Foundation he has assisted in the construction of both Churches and Mosques across Taraba, supported so many Church associations through the provision of health facilities, such as drugs and construction of health clinics, indicating that “I have invested in the vein yard of God, it is my believe that power comes from God so as Christians we should look up to God to choose a man after His heart rather than men. I have to say these things so that nobody would be mislead”, he observed.
Chief Kente also told the congregation that should the Church of Christ be fair and just in their decision as who becomes the next governor of Taraba, he possesses the quality.
According to him, he possess all characteristics adopted by Christians which includes spirituality investment in God’s vein yard, acceptability and that of marriage to one wife as required by the Holy Book, the Bible.
Chief Kente who said his only wife is an indigene from Taraba further argued that people should put sentiments apart and expressed optimism that a governor with an indigenous wife would benefit Taraba double.
According to the SDP governorship hopeful, as a woman from the community she would understand more the problems of the people and this would complement the efforts of the governor as well as generate quality governance as a team that understand perfectly the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Taraba as well the immediate needs of the poor masses.
The SDP governorship hopeful promised to use the office of governor to restore and guarantee security which for long has eluded the people of Taraba, pursue peace and unite the diverse cultural structure of the state, genuine reconciliation which would serve as a catalyst for the development of a new Taraba under his administration, if given the mandate.
Chief Kente who commended the President and the entire congregation for the opportunity given him to address the gathering appealed that if the Church should be involved, its decision should be fair and just based on truth and must be done in tune with Christian doctrine so that none of the candidates who are all Christians vying for the position of governor would not feel cheated.
In his welcome address, President of the Reformed Church of Christ for Nations (RCCN) Rev. R.Y. Shamaki, described Chief Kente as a friend of the Church who has always stood by the Ministry in times of need.
He pointed out that long before his aspiration, Chief Kente has assisted the Church in many ways including the construction and donation to the Church, the Lupye Clinic which now has a doctor as well as the Jonowa Kogi Church built and other various donations including cash and relief materials to widows as well as orphans, adding that what the Church need for Chief Kente is prayers.
Rev. Shamaki while urging members of the congregation to pray for Chief Kente and his family as well as his governorship aspiration, in the sense that leadership comes from God, maintained that he decided to mention his achievements so that every member of the congregation would know the type of heart to carry during the time of voting at the polls.
